An Arrow Pointing To Heaven::Chapter 3

  1. Read Rich's story at the beginning of the chapter about riding with the gay guy. What do you think about what Rich told the man?
  2. Is there anything we can do to change the love of God?
  3. Read aloud the lyrics to The Love Of God. What's the take-away? What was Rich trying to say?
  4. Why do you suppose we crave love? Rich said that we are born because of love...that God loved us into existence. If this is the case, why is it that so many fail to find the love of God?
  5. Rich asked, "How could God love someone as sinful as me?" What is the answer? And why is it that humans can never give this kind of love?
  6. What are the three ways in which God shows His love? How are they similar? Unique?
  7. What's the difference between "explaining the nuts and bolts" and "being the nuts and bolts?"
  8. Rich said, "God loves you desperately, passionately..." How is this different from love American style?
  9. Think about and discuss God's love for us: Not emotional, constant, eternal. Why do you suppose people have a hard time understanding this?
  10. Read Rich's quote at the bottom of p. 70 through the top of p. 71. Comments, please.
  11. Rich argued that "God is crazy about us." What do you think? What is the evidence for this?
  12. Rich said, "There is nothing you can do to make God love you more, and nothing you can do to make Him love you less." Try to come to grips with this eternal truth.
  13. How is God's love changing you?
